EU to pause retaliatory tariffs against US
(VOVWORLD) - The European Union will suspend for 90 days its countermeasures against the US in response to President Donald Trump’s steel and aluminum tariffs, to buy time to negotiate a trade deal, the European Commission President said Thursday.

Ursula von der Leyen announced the concession after Trump pulled a U-turn on Wednesday on the punishing “reciprocal” tariffs he announced just over a week ago. She said the EU wants to give negotiations a chance.
On Wednesday, EU members voted almost unanimously to impose 25% tariffs on 24 billion dollars’ worth of US agricultural and industrial products in retaliation for the steel and aluminum tariffs that Trump announced in February.
