Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee, addressed the opening ceremony: “The exhibition gives us an insight into Hanoi’s outstanding achievements over the past 60 years. It inspires people’s pride of Hanoi,a heroic capital city, a city for peace, and spotlights the tradition of unity of Hanoi’s army and people during the city’s construction and defense. It offers an opportunity for Hanoi-based businesses to advertise their products, promote investment, expand market and seek co-operation with partners.”

The nine-day exhibition not only recounts hardships facing Hanoi during wartime against the French and the US from 1954 to 1975, and the enthusiastic spirit of city dwellers to restructure the capital from 1975 to 1986 but also highlights Hanoians’ delight and excitement when the city enters its Doi Moi (Renewal), open-door and international integration process from 1986 to 2014.
