Experts recommend Vietnam live safely with coronavirus

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam needs to modify its anti-pandemic measures and prepare to live reasonably safely with the pandemic, because the end of the pandemic may not be near if the coronavirus continues to mutate. So said the health experts who met Wednesday with Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is also Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Localities which have the situation under control should stick to their strategy of contact tracing, zoning, quarantining, and treating COVID-19 patients, experts said.

They suggested that localities hit hard by the pandemic, including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Long An, manage clusters to slow down transmissions, improve treatment to reduce deaths, and speed up vaccination, while safely reopening production and trade by carefully monitoring entries and exits.

To live with the coronavirus in the long run, the health experts recommended expanding testing, contact tracing, quarantining, and categorizing patients by their severity. They added that treatment centers must have sufficient medicines, low-cost oxygen, and vaccines.
