(VOVWORLD) - External information helps the world community clearly understand Vietnam’s policies and share and support Vietnam's views on regional and global issues, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told the 7th National External Information Awards ceremony in Hanoi on Sunday.

It also promotes the image of the Vietnamese people, history, and culture and Vietnam’s development achievements, connects Vietnam with the international community, and fights and refutes misconceptions and distortions by hostile forces and political opportunists, he said.
"External information work should promote the implementation of the 13th National Party Congress Resolution, introduce the country and people of Vietnam to the world and bring the world closer to Vietnam.” Mr Chinh said.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee conferred 102 awards. The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) won 7 prizes, including two First prizes.
