Festivals underway nationwide

(VOVWORLD) - A special art program celebrating 1055 years of the Dai Co Viet state, the ancient State of Vietnam, was held and the Hoa Lu festival opened on Friday in Ninh Binh province.

After defeating twelve rebellious warlords, in 968, Dinh Bo Linh ascended to the throne and took the name of King Dinh Tien Hoang and reunified the country under the name of Dai Co Viet and Hoa Lu was its capital for 41 years (968-1009). His successor, Le Dai Hanh, the first King of the Le Dynasty, defeated the Chinese invaders and regained the national independence for Dai Co Viet.

In his address, Pham Quang Ngoc, Chairman of Ninh Binh’s People’s Committee, said that the celebration of 1055 years of the Dai Co Viet state and the Hoa Lu festival is an opportunity to review the heroic tradition of the nation, honor the great role and values of Dai Co Viet state, and demonstrate Vietnamese people’s strong will of independence, self-reliance, unity and aspiration for peace.

The event also pays tribute to King Dinh Tien Hoang and other predecessors in national construction and defense and honor cultural and natural heritages, he added.

A food and culture festival opened in Quang Tri province on Friday, featuring specialties of Vietnam’s northern, central, and southern regions.

Doan Van Viet, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said that Vietnam was honored as Asia's Best Culinary Destination 2022 at the third World Culinary Awards. Vietnamese cuisine deserves to be one of the national brands. The festival will attract tourists to Quang Tri and the North Central region in general, he added. 

Southern folk cake festival took place in Can Tho City on Friday, featuring hundreds of traditional cakes and handicraft items across the country. Dong Thap province hosted the 2023 Mango Festival from April 28 to May 1 to promote the fruit and products made from it and attract investment in mango processing and exports.
