(VOVworld)- Cambodia's Election Committee on Sunday officially announced the final result of the 5^th Parliamentary Election handing victory to the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP). The CPP took 68 seats to 55 for the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party. Earlier, the National Election Committee and the Cambodian Constitutional Council investigated the election results due to complaints from the CNRP and concluded that despite some technical mistakes, the election results were not affected. But, the CNRP has not accepted this results insisting that they won 63 seats and called for the UN to lead an investigation into the voting irregularity. About 20,000 people demonstrated on Saturday to protest the result and call for an independent probe.
