"I’ve seen fireworks at Hoan Kiem lake many times, but this time was very special, truly joyful and full of pride," said an audience.

"Today’s images were truly beautiful, inspiring in the people a deep pride in our nation. That pride is a foundation for the younger generation to carry on the traditions of our forefathers in building and developing the country," said an audience.

In Ho Chi Minh City, tens of thousands of people enjoyed fireworks and performances by the Saigon river and in Binh Duong  and Vung Tau ward. The celebration of Vietnam’s 80th National Day was the city’s first major festival since the merger of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria–Vung Tau.

Pham Van Hau of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "This year’s September 2nd was a very special National Day. The fireworks were beautiful, shining brightly in the sky, and I believe Ho Chi Minh City will surely make great strides and rise strongly in this new era."
