The same day, the hospital launched its Human Milk Bank and a specialized clinic providing counselling to parents and other caregivers on infant and young child feeding.

The Human Milk Bank is capable of providing pasteurized breast milk to 1,000 premature, underweight, and sick babies at the hospital and another 20,000 vulnerable babies in the province.

Dr. Nguyen Duc Vinh, Head of the Maternal and Child Health Department of the Ministry of Health, said: “We hope that in the future, mothers in Quang Ninh and other localities who cannot breastfeed can come here to receive milk from the bank. We recommend that other localities develop breast milk banks.”
