Foreign experts, skilled workers to be welcomed to Vietnam after COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - At a press briefing in Hanoi on Tuesday, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung called on localities to make it easier for experts and high-skill workers to enter Vietnam to work following the COVID-19 crisis.

Minister Dung said: “We need to streamline administrative procedures for foreign experts and high-skill workers. Provinces that receive foreigners should take responsibility for quarantining and managing them.”

“It’s possible to set up centralized quarantine areas or use local accommodations, factories, and offices to quarantine foreign migrant workers. If Vietnam can do it well, it will quickly restore production, expand investment, and create a better investment environment,”  Mr. Dung added.

The Vietnamese government intends to allow experts to return to work on major projects to restore production and trade while maintaining epidemic prevention and control restrictions.

As of the end of March, more than 25,000 foreign workers hadn’t yet returned to Vietnam to work. They are mainly managers and high-skill workers who work for key development projects.
