Foreign Ministry voices on Facebook’s violation of Vietnam's sovereignty

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s Deputy spokesperson Ngo Quang Thang has answered to reporters’ question on Vietnam’s response to Facebook’s publication of map image seriously violating Vietnamese sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

He told reporters on Thursday that upon receiving the information, the Ministry of Information and Communications had worked with Facebook and the information has been corrected. He repeated Vietnam’s full historical evidence and legal grounds on its sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos in line with international law.

During the press briefing on Thursday, the spokesperson said the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Vietnam from July 8 to 9 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. The first visit to Vietnam in his term of office will boost bilateral comprehensive partnership in politic, diplomacy, economic, trade, investment, defense and war consequences recovery.
