Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong presents the 70-year Party Membership Medal to former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, August 25, 2019.

Mr. Trong praised Mr. Phieu as a brilliant leader who has devoted his life and career to national construction and defense.

“As a Party General Secretary, Mr. Le Kha Phieu contributed enormously to Vietnam’s achievements in the renewal process, national development and defense. He has set a shining example for the younger generations,” said Mr. Trong.

Mr. Le Kha Phieu served as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam from 1997 to 2001.
