Forum on treatment of non-communicable diseases amid COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - Digital healthcare remedies in the “new normal” period and improving care for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) were discussed this week at a virtual forum hosted by the Ministry of Health, the British Embassy in Vietnam, the UK-ASEAN Business Council, and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son told participants that Vietnam has COVID-19 under control and has had no locally-transmitted infections for the past 20 days. But health experts said COVID-19 poses higher risks for the elderly and people with NCDs, so Vietnam has rolled out measures to fight the pandemic and NCDs at the same time, including advising the elderly and people suffering from chronic diseases on how to self-monitor, providing remote health checkups and treatment, and guiding medical insurance claims for chronic patients.
