French Independence Day marked in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVworld) - President Truong Tan Sang on Monday sent a congratulatory message to French President Francois Hollande on France’s Independence Day. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung congratulated his counterpart Manuel Valls and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh greeted French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on the occasion. 

The Vietnam-France Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony on Monday to mark the 226th anniversary of French Independence Day.

Le Quoc Hung, the branch’s chairman, said Vietnamese – French relations have been developing comprehensively in all fields including politics, culture, education, science and technology, security and defense.

The relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and France is also on the rise, especially in investment and trade cooperation. France ranks 9th out of more than 70 countries and territories to have invested in the city.

The Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City, Emmanuel Ly-Batallan said France and Vietnam share time-honored relations with many historical ups and downs.

He expressed his hope that bilateral friendship and cooperation will be further deepened and flourish.
