(VOVworld)- Fruit exports may hit more than 2 billion USD this year, up 11 percent compared to 2015, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Vietnam is currently exporting fruits to more than 40 countries and territories worldwide. This year, Vietnamese fruit exporters are entering new markets, such as the European Union, Canada, and countries in South East Asia, the Middle East, and South America.

Last year, export revenue reached 1.85 billion USD for fruits and vegetables, an increase of more than 24 percent from 2014, according to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetables Association (Vinafruit). In the first two months of this year, turnover rose 39 percent compared to the same period last year.

Markets such as the US, Australia, the EU and Japan have opened their doors to Vietnamese fruits like longan, litchi and mango.
