G7 Statement on nuclear non proliferation, maritime security

VOVworld)- The G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting which took place in Hiroshima, Japan over the past two days has released a Joint Communique calling for building a nuclear free world.

In the communique, G7 Foreign Ministers strongly condemned the recent attacks in Europe and agreed to strengthen cooperation to prevent attacks by terrorists and extremists. The Foreign Ministers also stressed maritime security and freedom as the foundations of global peace, security and prosperity. They emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order on the basis of international law including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and called on countries to abide by the judgments of the international court in addressing territorial disputes. The communiqué called on the involved parties to fully abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and to soon establish a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
