(VOVworld) – A gala night was held on Wednesday at the Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese ethnic groups in Hanoi’s Son Tay town to honor Vietnamese ethnic culture. Themed “Opportunity in the Dragon Year", the event was a highlight of this year’s Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Cultural Festival. National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said during the nation’s struggles and construction, 54 ethnic groups have jointly reinforced a Vietnamese culture of unity, and diversification to crystallize traditional cultural values. Mr. Hung clarified that the Party and State are consistent in their policy of securing equality and national unity while promoting cultural development. He says 'We believe that cultural exchanges among ethnic groups, provinces, and regions will contribute positively to maintaining, promoting and spreading the Vietnamese culture. The activities will also enhance the strength of national unity and create a driving force for the country’s growth and prosperity'.

On the same day, an art show was held in Ho Chi Minh City in response to the 2012 Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Cultural Festival. Many activities took place demonstrating the cultures of the local Kinh, Chinese, Cham and Khmer people.
