Get-together marks 50th anniversary of Mau Than Offensive
(VOVWORLD) - 700 former soldiers, who are members of the Sai Gon-Gia Dinh military zone commando club, met on Sunday in Ho Chi Minh city on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Mau Than Offensive.
Participants recalled the tradition of Sai Gon commandos, who took part in the offensive in spring in 1968 to liberate southern Vietnam. They were tasked with attacking 5 major targets of the enemy: the General Staff, the Independence Palace, the Radio Station, the High Command of Navy, and the US Embassy. The Sai Gon commandoes successfully accomplished these tasks.
