“I want to thank and commend the Government of Vietnam for its leadership in addressing global cybercrime and for hosting this conference. The effort and resources invested by Vietnam to ensure this successful event are admirable,” Fathi Waly, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, said.

The US Office on Drugs and Crime is proud to work with Vietnam on this ambitious endeavor. And this signing conference is only the first step. After the signing, we must move forward with ratification, entry into force, and implementation.”

Hanoi’s hosting of this event was a clear recognition of Vietnam’s position, credibility, and role on the international stage.

“We see Vietnam not only with the capacity and competence to deal with the conference’s work for a global response to cybersecurity, but also as a country that is respected and has to play a role, a government role, in international relations. So we are happy to sign this in Vietnam,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres said.

Praising Vietnam’s organization of the event, Neal Jetton, Director of Interpol’s Cybercrime Directorate, said Vietnam has long been an active leader in international cooperation to combat cybercrime.

"Vietnam has been a very good partner. For Interpol, we have several initiatives where we have Vietnam as a partner. I think this year alone they participated in Operation Secure, where 26 Southeast Asian countries came together and focused on combatting criminal networks. In fact, Vietnam was a huge contributor to that operation. So actually, Vietnam is leading in Interpol’s support, so it’s a big initiative as well,” said Jetton.
