After nearly 15 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development, the capital’s rural areas have seen fundamental and comprehensive changes, most notably strong economic growth and improved living standards.
Average per capita income in rural areas rose from 13 million VND (500 USD) in 2010 to 74.3 million VND (2,850 USD) in 2024, the highest in the country. Poverty has been eradicated, while rural infrastructure has improved significantly. All commune roads have been paved, all commune health stations have met national standards, and over 95% of residents have been covered by health insurance. By 2024, all communes in Hanoi had met new rural development standards.
“The new rural development program has truly become the will of the Party and the aspiration of the people, bringing profound changes in the economy, society, culture, environment, and quality of life, while laying a solid foundation for the capital’s next stage of development,” said Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.
National Assembly Vice Chairman Le Minh Hoan emphasized that in the near-future, Hanoi should aim higher - toward ecological agriculture, modernized rural areas, and civilized farmers.
At the ceremony, Vice Chairman Hoan presented the First-Class Labor Order to the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Hanoi.
