(VOVWORLD) -Hanoi continues to be Vietnam's leading locality in Provincial Innovation Index (PII) rankings for 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced on Wednesday during the celebration of the National Innovation Day and the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition at the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, Hanoi.

Hanoi has topped PII for the third consecutive year and demonstrated its leading role in socio-economic development based on science, technology, and innovation. Following Hanoi are Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong and Hue City.
PII, built according to international standards, assesses a province's socio-economic development model based on science, technology, and innovation. It provides a locality's innovative strengths and weaknesses, serving as a practical tool for leaders to develop policies, attract investment, and foster competitiveness within each region.
India, China, Colombia, and Vietnam are pioneers in building provincial innovation indexes in the world.
