(VOVWORLD) - The National Assembly Standing Committee has nominated Secretary of Hanoi’s Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue as the country's next National Assembly Chairperson.

The National Assembly will cast a secret ballot for its new leader Wednesday morning.
Mr. Hue, 64, a native of central Nghe An province, has a doctorate in economics and has been an academic in Vietnam and abroad.
He was a deputy prime minister from 2016 to 2020. In February 2020, he became Hanoi's Party chief, replacing Mr. Hoang Trung Hai.
National Assembly deputies on Tuesday approved the dismissal of National Assembly Chairwoman and Chairperson of the National Election Council Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
