HCM City commits to better working environment and social welfare for workers

(VOVWORLD) -Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc highly appreciated the International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s support for the southern city in labour affairs during a meeting with newly-appointed country director Ingrid Christensen on Monday.

He said the city will coordinate more closely with the ILO in addressing existing issues hampering the progress of the labour projects. It pays special attention to the project on Technical Support for Enhancing the National Capacity to Prevent and Reduce Child Labour in Vietnam as it is striving to build the best environment for the development of children, he said.

HCM City will continue fulfilling its commitments in terms of working environment and social welfare for workers, Mr. Duc said.

ILO Country Director Christensen said the organization will coordinate further with the city to protect workers’ rights and provide them with the best working environment.
