HCM City marks Polish Independence Day

(VOV) – Representatives from Ho Chi Minh City’s administration, the Embassy of Poland in Vietnam, citizens and students gathered at a ceremony in the city on Friday to mark Poland’s Independence Day. Vietnam and Poland established their diplomatic relationship in 1950. Poland was among the first countries to acknowledge Vietnam Democratic Republic and always supported Vietnam during its struggles for national independence. Poland has trained 4000 Vietnamese students and 3500 technicians and skilled workers, as well as built the Ha Long shipping building workshop in Quang Ninh province. Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Barbara Szymanowska spoke at the event: "Our Independence Day is a special occasion for any Polish to be proud of and I believe that Vietnamese people would be the same of your Day. The Vietnam-Poland Friendship Association’s many activities have shown us that we have so many friends here in Vietnam. In spite of the geographic distance between the two nations, we have cooperated quite effectively in various fields."
