Heroic Vietnamese Mothers monument: cultural, historical significance

(VOVworld) – The Deputy Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, supervised the on-going construction of the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers monument in the central province of Quang Nam on Wednesday. He urged for more efforts to collect artifacts which will be displayed in a museum to be built inside the monument. Phuc said: "First, because this is an important work, we must build with artistic values and logical composition. Second, authorities should pay attention to resources needed for construction. Central leaders will join hands with localities to ensure the work’s quality and so that it is on schedule."
The Heroic Vietnamese Mother monument, built at the foot of Cam mountain in Tam Ky city, was initiated by the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee and Radio the Voice of Vietnam in 2004. Its construction began in 2009. The monument was modeled by local mother Nguyen Thi Thu who lived in Dien Thang commune, Dien Ban district.
