Ho Chi Minh City aims to be a financial centre

(VOVWORLD) - Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a regional and international financial centre as a way to accelerate its economic growth in the time ahead, Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said at an economic forum on Friday attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

“The city pledges to do its utmost to ensure a stable political and social environment, as well as legitimate interests of investors. We will create favorable conditions for financial organisations and institutions to operate on a long-term basis here. We want Ho Chi Minh City to connect all financial hubs,” said Mr. Phong.

Participants said that Ho Chi Minh City gathers enough conditions to turn itself into a regional and international financial center, but called on the city to introduce special policies in regards of tax, human resource attraction, financial transparency to encourage innovative ideas.
