Ho Chi Minh City leader hails Vietnam-US ties

(VOVWORLD) - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan said he hopes Vietnam and the US will boost cooperation in start-ups.

At a reception on Wednesday for the US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink, Nhan said the establishment of Fulbright University will help creative start-up and smart city building programs.

Nhan praised security cooperation between Vietnam and the US, which contributes to maintaining peace, security, and free navigation in the region. He said he believes Ambassador Kritenbrink will raise bilateral relations to a new stage.

Kritenbrink said US companies will help HCM City develop smart city and startup activities. He pledged to help Vietnam ensure security and safe navigation in the East Sea and deal with war consequences.

Ambassador Kritenbrink will go to Bien Hoa airport to plan dioxin remediation and further cooperation in locating missing American and Vietnamese soldiers.
