HCMC to decode genomes of 20 people previously infected with COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - Three medical institutions in Ho Chi Minh city will jointly conduct a genome sequencing study of people previously infected with COVID-19 to better understand the novel coronavirus’s effects on patients with different genetic traits and to try to identify which genes in Vietnamese patients are sensitive to the virus.

Samples collected from 20 COVID-19 patients will have their DNA extracted to sequence the entire genome using US technology.

The study will be completed within 3 months by the Institute of Medical Genetics, the Center for Disease Control, and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City.
