Human Rights Council’s UPR Working Group adopts report on Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) working group of the UN Human Rights Council adopted a preliminary report on the third review of Vietnam at a session at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, this week.

The report included more than 290 recommendations made by 122 countries, such as building a law-governed State, completing the legal system, continuing to promote basic rights and freedom, and enhancing cooperation with human rights mechanisms of the UN. Most recommendations conformed with Vietnam’s priorities and commitments in protecting and promoting human rights.
Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung appreciated the cooperative and constructive spirit of countries and their positive assessment on Vietnam’s national construction and human rights protection and promotion.
The report on Vietnam’s third UPR will be considered for official approval at the 41st regular session of the Human Rights Council slated for June this year.
