Humanitarian Month launched in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVWORLD) - Ho Chi Minh City has launched the Humanitarian Month on Sunday to mark the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8).

Tran Truong Son, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City's Red Cross Society, said: “The highlight of the Humanitarian Month will take place from May 8th to 19th, which is the 129th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, who was an honorary President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society from 1946 to 1969. Members of the Vietnam Red Cross Society will forever remember his teachings to wholeheartedly do everything to benefit the people.”

Charity activities will include building houses for the poor and bridges in disadvantaged rural areas, organizing blood donation campaigns in summer, giving scholarships, enhancing communication campaigns on epidemic prevention, and offering free medical check-ups and treatment.
