Illegal entry must be strictly dealt with to prevent COVID-19 from spreading: Deputy PM
(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on Friday requested the police to strictly handle illegal entry into Vietnam amid fears of a possible 4th wave of COVID-19 after 2 positive cases were found illegally entering Vietnam on Monday at Phu Quoc island aboard a fishing boat.

Chairing the a meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Dam urged for stricter control of the border, especially sea border, encouraging border provinces to cooperate with their foreign counterparts to help Vietnamese people implement the host country's epidemic prevention measures. He called for favorable conditions for Vietnamese from overseas to enter Vietnam by official route.
“The Ministry of Public Security must direct the national forces to strictly implement the solutions and disseminate information to the grassroots level, so that returnees from abroad must make medical declarations. Those who do not show up and report themselves will be strictly handled according to the law.”
The Deputy Prime Minister called on localities to be on alert for the possible new wave of COVID-19 by inspecting enforcement of epidemic prevention regulations.
He asked the Ministry of Health to go ahead with technical solutions to facilitate those wishing to enter Vietnam after being vaccinated.
