India, HCMC tighten friendship

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is an important pillar in India’s Act East policy, said Srikar Reddy, Consul General of India in HCM City, at a ceremony to mark India’s 72nd Independence Day on August 15 in Ho Chi Minh City. 

He added that the Vietnam-India’s relationship was founded and has been nurtured by generations of leaders of both countries, and is developing steadily on the basis of mutual understanding, trust, and common viewpoints on regional and international issues.

Addressing the event, President of the HCM City chapter of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association, Huynh Thanh Lap, highlighted the significance of August 15th, 1947, in India’s history which marked the foundation of a powerful nation with great influences in the region and the world today.
