Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that partnership with ASEAN is an important component of New Delhi’s “Look East” policy, said Prime Minister Singh. The summit in Phnom Penh will give Indian an opportunity to evaluate and prepare a major agenda for next month’s summit where the India- ASEAN relationship will be lifted to a new level. Indian Prime Minister described East Asia Summit (EAS) as the best forum to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. He said EAS is a useful forum to strengthen cooperation and discuss regional security issues. In Cambodia, Prime Minister Singh is seeking to further trade and investment ties with ASEAN in the context of economic crisis in Europe and many other countries.
