In his remarks at the online signing ceremony, Indian Ambassador Pranay Verma noted the success of the QIPs in Vietnam, which signified their utility in bringing quick development at local level. He added that the collaboration between the Embassy and the provincial authorities for timely implementing these projects reflected the strength of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam and Vietnam’s collective efforts towards its realization of Sustainable Development Goals.

In early October, the Embassy signed two similar MoUs for QIPs with Yen Bai and Lao Cai province.

The MoUs signed this year will facilitate implementation of grassroots projects in 10 provinces, including educational infrastructure in Ha Tinh, Khanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Nghe An, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri and Tuyen Quang; irrigation and water supply projects in Yen Bai and Quang Binh; and a social welfare project in Hai Phong. With these 10 projects, the total number of QIPs in Vietnam reaches 37 in 33 provinces.

The Quick Impact Projects, each valued at 50,000 USD, are part of India’s grant-in-aid assistance program under the Mekong Ganga Cooperation (MGC).
