The submarine is now at a depth of 850 meters (nearly 2,790 feet), which is beyond the KRI Nanggala’s maximum operating depth of 250-500 meters.

The remaining oxygen supply was believed to have run out and debris from inside the submarine was found on the surface of the Bali Sea.

The Indonesian navy said the reason for the sinking of the submarine remains unclear.
