Indonesian Ambassador to ASEAN hails Vietnam’s leading role
(VOVWORLD) - Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN Ade Padmo Sarwono said as the ASEAN Chair this year, Vietnam has proved its capability in leading ASEAN at a challenging time.
In an recent interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Vietnam’s ASEAN membership, Ambassador Ade stressed the role of the ASEAN Chair 2020 is not only promoting the interests of member countries but also fostering ASEAN ideals to create a more prosper community and maintain peace and stability in the region.
He said Vietnam has contributed significantly to ASEAN’s development and prosperity and has strongly supported cooperation between ASEAN and its partners over the past 25 year.
Ambassador Ade said as the Chair of ASEAN, Vietnam needs to continue to foster ASEAN’s development, including implementing the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific to reaffirm ASEAN’s central role as well as the importance of building the ASEAN Community in the region, which is witnessing competition between world powers.
