Indonesian President concludes visit to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his wife concluded their state visit to Vietnam on Wednesday at the invitation of President Tran Dai Quang and his wife.

During the visit, President Widodo held separate talks with President Tran Dai Quang, Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. At the meetings, both sides agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and create more opportunities to exchange views, ideas, and initiatives on strategic issues through bilateral mechanisms and consultations, strengthen cooperation in fighting international crime, increase bilateral trade, and boost cooperation in energy, aviation, maritime, education, and training.

Both sides reaffirmed their support for the full and effective implementation of the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), welcomed expanding cooperation between ASEAN and China, and said they are encouraged by the progress of substantive negotiations towards an effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
