The amnesty decision was announced at a ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, who is also Chairman of the Amnesty Advisory Council in 2025. For this year’s National Day, the President has granted amnesty to 14,020 inmates and five with sentences temporarily suspended nationwide.
Deputy PM Binh said: “Amnesty is only the beginning of a new path. The road ahead will not be smooth. The people who have been pardoned may face challenges in making a living, prejudices, and lures from bad elements. But I believe, with what you have learned and trained here, together with the resilience forged in this place, you have enough determination to overcome those difficulties."
"The years spent behind the bars are surely a painful and costly lesson for you, a torment for your parents, spouses, children, and loved ones. From today, let those mistakes stay behind forever, so you may move forward confidently in the rest of your life.”
The granting of amnesty on National Day reaffirms the humanitarian and lenient policy of the Party and State, encouraging those who have erred to strive for correction, while spreading the spirit of humanity and respect for the law.
