International Day for the Disabled marked in Hanoi

(VOVWORLD) -The National Committee for People with Disabilities and the Hanoi Association for the Disabled held a meeting in Hanoi on Saturday in response to the International Day of People with a Disability.

Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Dao Hong Lan, Vice Chairperson of the National Committee for the Disabled, was speaking in the meeting: “We share with the disabled as committed in the Constitution and relevant laws and policies as well as Vietnam’s international commitments towards better life and enforcement of legitimate rights for people with disabilities. Vietnam has issued many policies lenient to people with a disability, including those for better housing support, education, healthcare, transport facilities and income generated activities”

Vietnam has nearly 8 million people with disabilities, representing some 7.8% of the population, including 1.2 million disabled children.
