Vietnam still has 20% of its area or 66,000 squared kilometers of land bearing unexploded ordnances. One-fifth of the area has been cleared at an annual pace of 20,000 hectares. Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Bui Hong Linh: “The clearance of unexploded bombs and mines is dangerous, painstaking and resource consuming. The government has focused clearance effort in residential and economic development areas. We will raise communication campaign to mobilize cross sector effort to continue this effort.”
