It hailed the meeting between the Party leader and US President in the Oval Office as unprecedented, symbolizing the US major interest in the visit and trust in Vietnam. Reuters considered the visit as a landmark in bilateral relations.

The BBC quoted Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong as saying that it’s most important when both countries become friends and comprehensive partners.

The Political Events journal had an article by Vinod Anand, a senior researcher in the VIF Vivekananda International Foundation based in New Delhi praising the visit as a new chapter in Vietnam US relations.

The Huffington Post had Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s writing that the visit was a strategic opportunity to improve US Vietnam relations and a new chapter in bilateral ties. Mr Blinken wrote that Vietnam has integrated with the world community and become an active member with lots of contribution. The relations will further develop for the benefit of the two peoples.

Australian Sydney Morning Herald quoted analyst Alexander Vuving from the Asia Paficic Security Research Center in Hawaii as saying that Vietnam and the US are willing to clear obstructions on remaining issues to boost bilateral ties.
