Iran leaves door open for cooperation with US

(VOVWORLD) - Iran would not allow the US to interfere in its internal affairs but may cooperate with the US on oil and security in the Gulf, Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in an interview with the Etmad newspaper on Saturday.

Zarif said foreign presence in the Persian Gulf caused insecurity.

Earlier, he urged the new US administration to "unconditionally" remove sanctions as the first step to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Then, Iran would reverse all the remedial measures it has taken in the wake of Trump's withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
