Iran repeats demand that US sanctions be lifted before nuclear talks resume

(VOVWORLD) - Iran Monday repeated its call for the United States to drop sanctions imposed by former US President Donald Trump’s administration before discussing the 2015 nuclear deal.

Tehran made the statement after US President Joe Biden said Washington is willing to discuss a revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

A White House spokesperson responded Sunday by expressing “disappointment” with Iran’s response, but said the US is ready to “reengage in meaningful diplomacy to achieve a mutual return to compliance with JCPOA commitments.”
