Iran to uphold 2015 nuclear deal

(VOVWORLD) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that Iran intends to uphold the 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, (JCPOA) which best serves its national interests, state TV reported.

By remaining in the nuclear deal, Iran will achieve a major political and security goal, Rouhani said, adding it would be a marked political success.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini together with foreign ministers of France, Germany and the UK have called on Iran to comply with the JCPOA, after the UN nuclear watchdog confirmed that Tehran had restarted uranium enrichment. They said in a joint statement on Monday that Iran's uranium enrichment "has potentially severe proliferation implications".
