Iran wants to develop long-term, strategic relations with Russia

(VOVWORLD) - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed bilateral ties during a meeting in Moscow Wednesday, even as pressure mounts for a decision on the Iran nuclear deal, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Raisi is paying a two-day state visit to Russia, his third and most important trip outside Iran since he took over the presidency last August. He said Iran has no limits for expanding ties with Russia and Tehran wants to develop relations with Moscow that will be, not temporary, but permanent and strategic.

Putin praised the two countries’ close cooperation on the international stage and underscored the importance of letting him know Iran’s opinion on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

After the talks, Iran presented Moscow with draft documents on strategic cooperation between the two countries for the next two decades.
