At a reception on Tuesday, visiting Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Ali Ardeshir Larijani told Mr. Nhan that although trade has increased, economic ties between Vietnam and Iran have yet to match the potential and aspirations of the two sides.

He called for more information sharing and collaboration to increase mutual understanding and said Vietnam and Iran share many similarities and have a solid potential for cooperation, especially in maritime transport and seaport construction.

He noted that Iran is ready to facilitate joint-venture investment and cooperation projects and to welcome Vietnamese investors in oil, gas, and liquefied gas, Iran’s principal strength.
