(VOVWORLD) - Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday rejected an offer of renewed talks with US President Donald Trump and denied his assertion that the United States had destroyed Iran's nuclear capabilities.

Iranian state media reported that Khamenei said an agreement made under pressure with a set outcome is not a real agreement. He also rejected the US president’s claim that US and Israeli airstrikes have destroyed Iran’s nuclear sector, stressing that Iran’s nuclear facilities are an internal matter.
Although both Resolution 2231 and the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), expired Saturday, Iran's rights to uranium enrichment and peaceful nuclear activities will continue, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said.
He criticized France, Britain, and Germany, collectively known as the E3, for failing to demonstrate a credible commitment to negotiations, noting they had triggered the "snapback" mechanism to reinstate sanctions before the resolution's expiration.
