Japan approves shipment of high-tech material to South Korea
(VOVWORLD) - Japan has approved a shipment of high-tech material to South Korea for the second time since imposing export restrictions last month, Yonhap News Agency reported late on Monday.
The high-tech material is photoresists, which are crucial for Samsung Electronics’ advanced contract chip making production. Once delivered, the shipment will provide enough materials for Samsung Electronics for the next 6 months.
However, news sources noted that Tokyo’s recent move aims to prove that export restrictions are not among its economic retaliatory measures against Seoul. It also demonstrates that Japan will continue to export high-tech materials to South Korea, at least for the time to come.
