Speaking at a press conference in Washington during his visit to the United States, the Japanese Prime Minister emphasized that the world should "not make light of the history" in which no nuclear weapons have been used over the past 77 years.

He added that the G-7 will confirm its commitment to upholding "the international order based on the rule of law" at the upcoming summit.

The US is the last stop of Prime Minister Kishida's week-long trip to five of the G-7 countries. This is his first official visit to Washington since he took office in 2021.

At previous stops, Mr. Kishida held separate talks with the leaders of France, Italy, Britain and Canada. The trip is part of preparations for the May G-7 summit.
