(VOVworld)-The Japanese Embassy in Vietnam opened the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Year on Friday, marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Japan and Vietnam. Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said that the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Year has arrived at a time when the bilateral relationship is seeing positive developments. It will be the highlight of a wide range of celebratory activities strengthening the ties of cooperation and friendship between the two countries. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai:“High level visits and exchange programs and activities during the friendship year will promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries, especially the young generation. This will set up a firm foundation for long term development and sustainable growth in bilateral friendship.”

 Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yasuaki Tanizaki said that the event will deepen bilateral strategic relationship:“I hope that activities to take place during the friendship year will be successful. There will be programs organized by individuals and businesses to promote bilateral cooperation as well as mutual understanding between the two countries and peoples.”
