(VOVworld) - Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani and his Myanmar counterpart Lieutenant General Sein Win met on Monday in Naypyitaw to discuss security cooperation.

General Nakatani, who held separate talks with Myanmar's military chief Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing earlier in the day, was set to offer the Japanese Self-Defense Forces' support toward capacity building for Myanmar’s military. The move is part of the Japanese government's plan to enhance its assistance toward Myanmar in a wide range of areas, including humanitarian aid and disaster relief. Mr. Nakatani is expected to meet with Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, who holds several important positions in Myanmar’s government.
